I have 2 models of the same structure in which the core lateral system is comprised of shear walls with openings of various sizes (doorways and openings for operable partitions [OP]). One version of the model has the walls broken up at the OP openings and the doorways modeled as wall openings while the second model is broken up at the doorways and half way between each opening for the wall above the openings. The reactions of the second model are about 3 times higher than those in the first model. From what I can see I have all the framing correct in both models. I am also using Pseudo-Flexible diaphragms with the same distribution percentages in each model.
So my question is: is the program treating the openings different in the two programs and if so how would I go about correcting this?
My inclination would be that the second model is more accurate and would have slightly different values than the first due to a finer, more uniform mesh.
