Adding User Defined Members

I'm sure I'm not the first, but I'm really struggling with user defined members. I am trying to add a UB254x146x43 with 2No. 10mm thick plates forming a box section.

When I run the analysis I get errors which I do not know how to resolve.

Any help would be much appreciated.

RAM CONCEPT-Mesh Input: Column in wall

Hi there,

I want to ask about the modelling technique for column in wall situation which example: I have 3 columns (in straight line) and a wall, I have to connect wall to 3 columns, 2 columns is 2 end-points and the last one is in middle. I have some questions:

1. Should I build columns first or wall first (both below slab)?

2. In case I have built columns first, could I make wall through the middle columns or I have to split the wall into 2 segments and connect to the middle column?

Thank you very much!

STAAAD Physical - Error

Hi Bentley Team,

I am in the process of modeling a steel structure with some steel hoppers. Running Integrity Check and Analysis Model show no issue with no error in the model. But when I want to move to Analytical Modeling, the following message appears and it stops proceeding to analytical model. What is missing here? Again, there is no issue in the model; in fact I was successful to get to the analytical model once and not any more! Thanks.

STAAD Foundation Advanced Drilled Pier

We just purchased a license for STAAD Foundation Advanced, and we're having trouble designing drilled piers. Is it possible to design drilled piers in the "general" mode? This would be very useful since you can only import STAAD Pro reactions into the general mode.

Hello,

I exported a Ram Structural Model to RAM Connection and I wondered how I could assign a beam splice connection at a certain point of a beam even if I do not have a joint there? See the image below.

Hi everyone,

My models with large number of supports and / or loads, always crash. I can leave them running all night but the next day the screen is the same, always in "Pedestal Design..." and Windows Task Manager shows "Not responding".

My version is STAAD Foundation advanced CONNECT Edition 9.5.0.62.

In the file attached, I cannot run Job FZ2:

I hope you guys are safe and well.

The error can be found when I try to analyze my model.

How can I fix this?

Please let me know, if you possible.

VERTICAL BASE SHEAR VALUE NOT SHOWN AS PER IS 1893-2016

Hello Team,

I have modeled one of the RCC building,
in that model I have applied vertical earthquake as per IS 1893-2016,

the problem is that when analyze the model I achieved base shear in x and z direction but in y direction I achieved zero value,

as per IS 1893-2016 cl.6.4.6the value of base shear in Y direction is 2/3 of base shear in X and Y direction, so that value not achieved.

RAM Elements Concrete Beam Design Output

I have a structural foundation using structural slab and grade beams set on drilled CIP concrete piers.  I've modeled the slab as a shell element and is being carried by beams.  I originally built this model in RSS and have exported to RAM Elements to use the shell FEM.  However, I'm having trouble understanding the RC Beam Design Output report.  Searching I found this:

https://communities.bentley.com/other/old_site_member_blogs/bentley_employees/b/beth_suminski_blog/posts/did-you-know-ram-elements-for-concrete-design-amp-detailing

But my report does not look like this as add'l lines are added and it doesn't seem to make much sense to me (report w/ screenshot attached).  Can someone please point me in the right direction of how to read this report correctly?

Thanks

RCDC Beam detailing Error.

Hello guys,

I am designing beams in RCDC. When my beam has successfully passed, I want to give reinforcements as per my wish. So, I right click and then click on "Detail". The software does not show more than 12mm bar in there. Can you please explain this?

I am also trying to attach my file to this question. It always shows error. Kindly update the both questions.

The error Screenshot (When I try to upload file. This is not the first time happening)

Is this section only limited to upload images? I don't think so, I have read many questions on this forum and you have suggested to upload rcdc file through this link.

Note: I am using RCDC version 10

is Bentley going to remove British standard?

Good day, I read that the U.K would no longer be using the British standard in their country, and they would switch to the Eurocodes with U.K annex.

does this mean that Bentley would remove the British standard in subsequent updates since there is no more support for it?

Shear and torsion Reinforcement Spacing Not Consistent in Cross-section Auditor and Design Status

$

Hi Bentley Community,

I have been reviewing my RAM Concept model and the design status shear reinforcement plan in combination with the design cross-section auditor tool. The problem is that the displayed shear reinforcement spacing in the design status (154mm) does not correlate to the auditor tool (300).

From my own calculations based on the forces generated from the model for combined shear and torsion in fact I am expecting closed shear ties spaced at 300 centers.

Is there a way to find out what critical cross-section ram in considering when displaying the design status?

Is someone able to assess my model?

Thanks in advance,

Bill

Column Cap Connection - RAM Connection

Hi,

Regarding the column cap connection, would you please help me with the following?

- Why I can't input shear (say axial for beam) loading? Wouldn't this affect the bolt design?

-  About the bolts, I couldn't find where they are designed in the report. Can you confirm bolts are designed/checked properly?

- Why I cannot extend the beam stiffeners up to the top flange?

Tks

RAM Connection Column Base Plate - Canadian Code

$

I'm trying to use RAM Connection (13.02.01.25) to design base plates by Canadian Code CSA S16-14.  I can assign a connection template in the "Canada" group called "BPl_CSA_Pinned" and it looks like this:

However, as soon as I edit the connection to include a diagonal brace, I get an error and the connection will not display.  Alternatively, I can use the US base plate template to get the geometry I want, but then I can't switch to Canadian code. Does RAM Connection not include an option for designing a column base plate with brace for the Canadian code?

Tags in Revit plans/sheets when doing RAM to REVIT using ISM

$

Hello All,

I was able to successfully go between RAM > Revit and Revit > RAM.

But I have a question regarding tagging individual elements.

Lets say I have a model "A" (Older model) in Revit. Same model in RAM and After making some changes (Property/Geometry update) in RAM, I use ISM to convert the RAM model to Revit Model "B".

Now, if I have tags (Properties of individual members and Dimensions) in Model A and I want to replace the Tags of Model A with Model B, meaning I am re-importing model B in Revit.

I am not able succeed with the updated element tags of Model B.

Also, The two models are super-imposing on each other. If I don't delete the Model A. (which is obvious, but I wanted to keep the tags somehow so tried keeping the older model in.)

So only option is I need to delete model A and then re-import model B. but with this I will lose my progress of tagging individual elements, in Model A.

Is there any way I can circle around and keep my tags in the sheet/plans I have created.

Any guidance/solution to this is appreciated.

Thank You.

regards,

Kaushik Panchal
