Hello everybody

To design SCBF I must work whit the expected brace strength in tension and post buckling brace strength in compression and calculate the forces in columns whit the result forces amplified by omega.

Whit this results I must to calculate the SCBF connections. My inquiry is.

Ths seismic frame in RAM CONNECTION is the tool for this situation.

STAAD Foundation Advanced - Strap Footing Design

Hi All,

I have attached the model generated by STAAD Foundation Advanced Connect Edition (v8.4.1). Anyone can help me find the answer to the following questions:

  1. The pressure at corners is reported 1.6046 ksf (with no errors), while the maximum soil bearing capacity is set to be 1.5 ksf.  Is it a bug of the software or modeling issue?  There are some more footings with the same issue (please see picture below).

2. Regarding the sliding check, I could not find a way to account for the active soil pressure on the footing side.  Is there any way to make it possible?

3. On page 390 of 719, the governing load case for footing 30 is #328 which is -4.87 kip uplift.  Weight of the footing is 12.98 kip and the soil weight on top of the footing is 3.87 kip.  Why the software uses this footing size, can we reduce it?

Thank you,

-Amir

Issue in Latest Code of AISC-2016 with built-up tepered member design

As per customer requirement, he want all primaries design with latest design code AISC-360-2016 but as per Latest STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition version 22 (22.00.00.015), it’s seem to be failure of the some of members with very marginable difference in utilization ratios as compare with Old code AISC-360-2010.

I also attached staad file of main frame.

Please advise if any changes in design parameters or if any special checks for this New Code AISC-360-2016.

I am awaiting for your reply.

Please resolve this issue in latest patch. please share latest patch link for the same.

How to ensure model beam loads in Staad pro are correctly imported into RCDC for design

After successful modelling in Staad pro I switched to RCDC for beam design. Upon checking the member forces I noticed that the listed loads are way too low compared to model beam loads. How to ensure Staad pro model loads are correctly imported into RCDC for design? Any ideas please? Any tricks from experience?

Design of a Beam perpendicular to and below a top beam

$

Hello,

I am designing a rooftop dunnage structure in staad pro. In my case, I have beams which are on top of one another in perpendicular directions. So I created a thick post between those beams to act like a stub which has no significance so I modeled it really thick. There will be a pin connection between these beams so I released My and Mz for top beams at start and end to not transfer any moment and just shear and axial. I also don't want the stub to transfer any moment to the beam below as there will actually be no moment caused by the top beams on bottom beams in the real scenario as it's a pin joint. So I released My and Mz at the start and end of these stubs. In doing so, I am getting various instabilities. Can someone please help me rectify these.

Thanks

When ISM Section Mapping from RAM to Revit the external family is not importing.

$

My company is trying to create a step by step tutorial on how to utilize our RAM to Revit ISM transfer, as we've had some issues in the past and I am in charge of making sure it works. At the moment an error has been occurring during my transfer if a wide flange shape is not already loaded into the project. I try to load from the external family location and I get the following error:

"Failed to import family type. Error occurred: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Continue?"

If I continue the family does not load and there is no longer a beam or column in the location of that member.

To note: this wide flange family is one that our practice technology department created. It is identical to the w-wide flange family except that we have added some additional parameters within the .txt file. I do not know if this changes anything when trying to load externally. However, if I cancel the repository update and load the beam into the project prior to starting the repository, I do not have any issues. So it is only when trying to load an external family. However, we don't want to have to pre-load the beams and columns that we'll need... we should be able to load them externally as needed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am learning RAM Concept.  In section 5.2 of the manual, it says to hit the escape key to cancel what is drawn.  When I draw columns and then hit escape, nothing happens.  Do I need to do something to my keyboard or mouse?  Thank-you.

Dear Colleagues,

Previously in SS when using loadcases repeatedly in different envelopes, there wasn't any warnings; but since the CONNECT Edition, we see this...

Is there any way to hide/suppress these warnings?

Thanks in Advance.
