STAAD Foundation Advanced Resisting Forces
For an isolated foundation under the ASCE 7-10 Load Case for 0.6DL + 0.6W, does STAAD Foundation Advanced apply the 0.6 DL factor to the resisting weight/overburden of the foundation. It appears to me that it does not.
I know that in the profession, there is some discussion as to whether this factor applies to the superstructure reaction alone or to both the superstructure reaction and the resisting weight of the foundation. Which does STAAD Foundation Advanced use?

Error During Analytical Model Creation
I'm getting the error "invalid plate nodes count" when trying to update my analytical model from the physical modeler.

When I moved the two files to my local hard drive it seemed to work ok until I noticed it was stuck at the "meshing model" phase. I left it running for over 40 minutes and it never got any farther.
When I hit cancel the whole program crashed and I had to "end task" from the task manager. I'm getting so many errors and issues, is my model just too big for STAAD to handle? Or am I doing something wrong somehow?
I will upload the two separate models via the file share site shortly.

What is load list for?
Dear All:
I am fresh of STAAD. I have a quick question. I saw the .std file has commands inside like "JOINT COORDINATES", "MEMBER PROPERTY", "MEMBER LOAD" etc. May I ask where I can find the explanation of the meaning of each command.
Also, for a quick question, I saw "LOAD LIST" under "PERFORM ANALYSIS". I think the number under "LOAD LIST" represents for each Load combination defined in the STAAD. So is the load combinations under "LOAD LIST" used for the check of the members? If I don't put the load combination number under "LOAD LIST", then that load combination will not be used for checking the member for the design?

I have 500 beams need to be checked/designed. Is there an option to input all the reinforcements (Quantity, Bar size, Reinforcement layer, etc.) from an excel file that has all the reinforcement information for each beam in a row to the software?

Transfer slab exported from RAM SS to RAM Concept
Hello everyone,
I am trying to design a transfer slab that I exported from RAM SS to RAM Concept. The thing is I keep getting an error that was already addressed in the forum (See Attached Pic)
I tried to modify the slab edges as it was suggested but it's still not working. It says "Large Stabilizing reaction in a floating loading," on all lateral load layers.
I am new to RAM, and I would really appreciate any help.

Seismic load with springs- Repeat load case
i am currently designing an irrigation channel which requires application of compression springs along with seismic loads. i have defined seismic loads first (load no. 4). i have used repeat load cases to combine all the loads.
In summary, i can see the moments being introduced due to seismic forces but it seems they are not being combined with other load cases. For eg. the forces summary for load cases excluding and including seismic forces is exactly the same (shown in figure below)?
i am unable to exactly pin point the problem as to why earthquake effect is not combining?

Foundation Plate Mat Support in X & Z direction not working.

I am trying to assign supports to walls of a sump to generate required active pressure due to some surcharge loads (traffic loads) on other side of the sump. But the wall supports were not yielding proper results.
How the Maximum deflections of below two models can be same?
One with Horizontal supports at the wall also;
One with vertical support at the bottom only;

RAM Connection Standalone - Eurocode
Hi,
when will be possible to use RAM Connection Standalone for design by Eurocode? Currently design details are possible only with AISC (output design).
I choose for customize connection design - design code EN 1993-EC3, but the output design is by the AISC.

Wind Load Generator and Applying Member Groups for Open and Closed Structure
I have been having problems applying wind loads from the wind generator using the member group command. This is only occurring on the enclosed portions of the structure if I have more then four walls considered to be enclosed. I tired to do this in the load cases 6 and 7 labeled as WL(+X) and WL(-X) load cases respectively trying to separate them by a few lines of code or leaving them together. It is working in load cases 8 and 9 because I have not introduced the enclosed scalper walls. Any help would be appreciated.

Default Unit of Deflection in Microstran
Hi,
I a bid confused in regards to unit of deflections. Is it in mm by default that can not be changed?
or it depend on unit type we set out at the beginning when starting up a model.
I have changed unit types but the values of deflection remain same.

Modify "Allowable Ratio" (Utilization ratio)
To STAAD.Pro community,
I need to modify the "Allowable Ratio" - in Utilization ratio calculation. The "Actual Stress Ratio" from a load combination needs to be compared with an "Allowable Ratio" greater than 1.
But the default value in the "Allowable Ratio" is = 1.
Hence, how do I change this default value to make it greater than 1 ?
The project is for the analysis of a steel tower.
