Hello All,
I have faced a little problem and confusion about these things (P-Delta , Response Spectrum & Diaphragm) in STAAD Pro. , I was using ETABS in the mentioned above issues and I know how it is defined and assigned in ETABS way , but so far I have to go with STAAD in a design of huge steel structure building ..
I wonder if anyone could help me in the following quires :
1- P-Delta ;
I know and I read about repeat load and how it is defined and work, but I want to ask if I have 2 cases DL & LL for example , I have to define another load case to combine those 2 cases (DL+LL) to be considered in P-Delta analysis.
but I want to know if the STAAD able to implement the effect of the mentioned case in the results without implementing the 3rd load case (DL+LL) in one of the defined load combinations I have previously in the model !!
does it used only for analysis !? but how about the results from the load combinations !?!?!
2- Response Spectrum ;
I know and I read about how it is defined and assigned , and the mass source in X,Y,Z .. but I also read about some problems arise when using P-Delta in a model having Spectrum defined, what do I have to do to avoid this problem !?
3- Diaphragm ;
In ETABS I have to define a diaphragm in order to overtake a seismic analysis in the model , should I define diaphragm in STAAD to carryout a seismic analysis or not !?
