please see attached base plate model which was provided to me previously by a forum member. i have few queries to understand the model so i can take i further.
Question: Why repeat load command was used. Is it to pre -solve the load cases before they are applied to the model as this is being non -linear analysis and results of individual load cases can not be linearly superimposed.
Question: There are no non -linear loads cases then why CHANGE command has been used.
Question: Does the CHANGE command have to be used with REPEAT LOAD command.
Question : Why has CHANGE command been used to separate the two support cases
Question: Why FIXED BUT support has been used. Iis it to stabilise the model.
Question : Why a model with modulus of subgrade reaction not used for all supports with REPEAT LOAD to combine all loads before they were applied to the model. A modulus of subgrade with COMPRSSION ONLY or TENSION ONLY springs to selected nodes would have served the purpose -at the same time applying the FIXED BUT support (perhaps to stabilise the model).
Question: How to interpret the results for steelwork. I can appreciate that the base pressure is calculated. One can check the von -mises and compare to the steel yield stress but how to check the buckling within steelwork. It will be great if results are interpreted so one can model variation to the arrangement shown.
