I'm looking to model up a simple two story masonry wall for out of plane forces. I have my base nodes pinned and currently have the second floor and roof nodes supported in the Z direction (this is the out of plane direction) to simulate the bracing effects of the diaphragm on the wall. The issue i'm running into is due to the "continuous support" option of my shell support. The horizontal "levels" of the wall are OK (base level, second floor, and roof supports), but I also get full support along the vertical edges of my shells. This causes my walls to act as more of a two way shell - since I don't have transverse walls, this will be un-conservative for my situation.
Is there a better way to model up a two story wall for out of plane? I would like to utilize the continuous supports on my horizontal edges while somehow avoiding them on my vertical edges.
