Just need some advise.
I am analyzing a 19m length bridge sitting on top of cross beams with span of 9.8m (see image below for better view). I tried to model it in STAAD as a whole system (bridge and cross beam).As for the cross beam, the resulting design forces for shear compared to manual calculation (by inspection) differs a lot. Load condition: wheels directly located at the cross beam; wheel load =345kN
STAAD Max. Design Shear Force = 393.08kN ; Manual Calcs (by inspection) = 2*345kN = 690kN . Sure there is something wrong either the manual calculation or modeling? The slave function was used for the connection between girder and cross beam. Thank you in advance.
