Main and Secondary Reinforcement in one-way slab

Hi,

I am not understanding how we determine the direction of main ( reinf required to resist design bending moment) and secondary reinf based on local x and y axis of plates.

Based on the wiki page I gone through found that the LONG REINF – Reinforcement required along the longitudinal direction ( along local X axis of the plates ). This reinforcement is reported in terms of area required per unit width of slab. TRANS REINF - Reinforcement required along the transverse direction ( along local Y axis of the plates ). This reinforcement is reported in terms of area required per unit width of slab.

Wiki page link : https://communities.bentley.com/products/ram-staad/w/structural_analysis_and_design__wiki/29226/how-do-i-interpret-the-element-design-results-per-the-aci-code

Can you please clarify that

1) Is the LONG REINF main reinforcement provided to resist design bending moment or is it along the longer direction of the slab?

2) Is the TRANS REINF secondary reinforcement or the reinforcement perpendicular to the longer side?
