Hello,
I'm working on a model and am having some issues with the deflection check. I've attached a picture. So as you can see from the picture, I have a unity ratio of 1.178 under Deflection Clause, in member 36 for LC 603. The beam is 10m long and has DFF of 350 assigned. It's a single line member (i.e. no intermediate nodes in the member and no need for DJ1/DJ2 commands). If I view this member, annotate the deflection it shows deflection 38.916mm. The deflection at the end nodes is 5.294mm and 5.211mm. So the max. local deflection is 38.916 - (5.294 + 5.211)/2 = 33.664mm. Allowable deflection is 10,000/350 = 28.571mm. 33.664 actual / 28.571 allowable = 1.178, which is my unity ratio. So far so good. However, if I go into the Beam window by double clicking on the member, then go to Deflection tab and look at local deflection for LC 603, it shows a maximum deflection of 76.323mm! Why is this so different, and why is it not being picked up in the unity check? Thanks in advance for any answers!
