Hello Everyone,
We generally write axial force in tension members as 'positive(+ve)' force, whereas 'negative(-ve)' in compression members of the truss structure.
But in staad analysis it was opposite, why is it so? And do we need to set any sign conventions before analysis? Please refer to the attached image file.
Forces in red color are compressive, and in blue are tensile forces.
