I am using RAM module of StaadPro
I have a column-beam-brace connection, the bracing element is a double angle 100x100x10 SD,
I have tried all kind of configurations for the double angle but the connection is not designed by RAM
Does RAM allows to design connections for double L or double U channel.?
I cannot use single angles of channel but double.

Further to a previous discussion (
), I have a couple of extra questions regarding the RAM ECR/Load History parameters.
1) The RAM Manual describes the Creep factor = Total Strain / Elastic Strain = (Elastic Strain + Creep Strain )/Elastic Strain.

The above discussion deals mainly with the creep co-efficient in the AS3600 and inputting that as the creep factor.
AS3600 - 1.6.3.17 defines the creep co-efficient as the ratio of the creep strain/elastic strain.
As such, the creep co-efficient is not directly comparable to the RAM creep factor. For a creep co-efficient of 2.23 (28 day initial load, 200 thick, 40MPa and Temperate inland), shouldn't the creep factor = 1 + 2.23 = 3.23??
2) For the Shrinkage strain parameter, I understand that RAM applies a modification for an ACI 209 moist cure duration other than 7 days (which is determined by what the user inputs into the Moist cure duration field).
However the AS3600 shrinkage strain calc does not have a clear factor for the "moist cure duration". The points in time that are used are:
a) the time after the "commencement of drying" (for drying shrinkage)
b) the time after "setting" (for autogenous/endogenous shrinkage)
Can you provide an idea of what points in time the ACI 209 "moist cure duration" is referring to (eg. from pouring to "setting"? from pouring to "commencement of drying"? from "commencement of drying" to "setting"? or otherwise?). It would be good to know that the moist cure duration field is not being incorrectly used along side AS3600 shrinkage strain value.

Please find attached STAAD file. Always has error message "SP16.13330.2011 TABLE NO C.5: STEEL GRADE C235 * ERROR *".
Steel members are not designed properly. Only load case 1 was considered. If I switch to Canadian Code. Everything is ok.

The steel design out put for few beams is not logical.Refer the screen shot below, the capacity of the section is more than the actual force, but still the section has a utilization ratio of 156

Using RAM Connection Standalone, for a CBB (Column-Beam-Brace) connection, I cannot assign SP (Single Plate) connections from the Design\Assign tab. I get the following error:
I can assign a double angle connection, then force the connections to single plates in the design edit. Last week before a STAAD update, I was able to assign this connection from the Design/Assign tab. Any thoughts?
My question is how i can configure the reports, i only need a group of loads combination apper , not all the combinations. and i try with "setup report" , and still show me all the combination
If there is a Frame with a combination of RCC Column upto Certain Height and rest Steel Column. If we are just designing the Steel Column only & RCC Column we just model but we are not checking it. So if we are checking the horizontal Deflection so we should check the deflection only for the Steel Column only or we shall take the full height of the Column including the RCC .

I have confusion in design data between analytical member and physical member having the same length in steel design using aisc asd , I made staad pro model containing two identical beams ,
first one is analytical member divided to 6 segment ,
second one is physical member ,
both beams have same length ,loads & design parameters but the the analytical member is save and the physical member is un safe ??!!!!

My office recently updated the RAM SS to V15.01. After we installed the new RAM SS on the computer, RAM sbeam cannot be run. What is the reason? Our ram sbeam is still old V3.0. Can this problem be solved if we update RAM sbeam to the latest version? Really appreciated it.

I am working on a steel design and in my job i have to used all the time RAM Connection. I can't found how RAM Connection calculates the solicitacions for a some connections. why the program doesn't do it ? That would be nice for us the new designers, that don't have clear all the concepts in the connections designs.

On loading a staad file I get a pop up mentioning that there are 10 warnings in my input file. I know what these relate to am am happy with them being in the file. As such, is there a way to disable the warnings message box when opening models? It makes automation using OpenStaad a bit annoying.
