Lower base elevation of selected column

Hi,

I need to lower the highlighted 4 columns base to 2.25' from the rest of the column in RAM SS. Can anyone help me with this. I added story level for that elevation but I am not able to lower just those 4 columns further down. Also I have to extend the brace at those column base as well. Appreciate your help.


EC2:2004 : FAIL-The column fails the Bresler criterion. The above error has popped up while designing the columns of a tower while designing in EC2:2004 CODE. What does this mean and what should be done further to complete the design of the column.

I am new to solid analysis in staad and trying to understand the capabilities.

I am trying to analyse a solid ring of concrete which is supported on the inner edge of the ring.

My question is

1. Does solid analysis account for torsion which would be there ?

Pedestal design for mat foundations in Staad Foundation Advanced Version 8.4.1.24

What is the procedure or settings to design pedestals on a mat foundation in Staad Foundation Advanced.

I have all the columns set to consider as pedestal in the data input pane.

In the slab designer form the reinforcement size options for pedestals are grayed out. Why?

On the calculation sheet there is a heading for pedestal design calculations, but the pedestal reinforcement design results are blank. Why?

RAM Concept is closing when I try to update or create a new repository

Hi everyone,

I am having problems when I try to create a new repository from RAM Concept.

Ram Concept closes when I try to create the ISM. 

I am using RAM Concept 06.05.00.026x64, and ISM 10.03.00.18

Is anybody else having the same problem?

Staad Foundation Advanced Meshing Errors

When trying to mesh a region that was made with a polyline, I receive an error that SFA is unable to create a mesh for this foundation. I have tried to mesh a square shaped region, as well as a more complex region and still the same error message appears. I am using version v8.4.1.24. How do I correct this?

Staad RCDC Beam Detailing

Hi!

I would like to ask if there is any option to specify in RCDC Beam design for the Maximum Length of Rebar as per commercially available length for consideration in Lap Splicing.

I noticed that splicing is not being considered in STAAD RCDC beam design.

Wind Load; ASD and LRFD

Dear Sir,

I want to know if my input for wind load is correct or not. I assign the wind load on Z direction generated by ASCE. However, I wonder when I assign the load, the wind load seems go to the other side of the wall because there is no tie beam, so that the STAAD think like the building as open building. How to deal with this problem. 

Second, I try to design with LRFD and ASD (Comb 200 above) for the same model. I got that the ASD Ratio is better than LRFD which is in my opinion seems impossible (usually ASD give more conservative value). So, I would be grateful if you can help me to explain what's wrong in my model.

RAM SS layout error after export from RAM Concept

Hi, 

An usual error has occurred after I exported a new layout of geometry from RAM Concept which results in the graphical errors below. The RAM SS is no longer usable as it freezes when an integrity check is being performed nor it is possible to change any elements as it is not visible from one layout to another. Could you help to troubleshoot what went wrong with the file? 

I've uploaded the model through securefileupload.

When Print result information to the analysis results file (*.ANL), you can limit the output to certain nodes or members (LIST...):

PERFORM ANALYSIS

PRINT MEMBER FORCES LIST ALL

PRINT JOINT DISPLACEMENTS LIST 7 11

FINISH

...but is there a way / command that can LIMIT THE NUMBER OF LOAD CASES PRINTED?...similar to...

(the below commands do not actually do what I want)

PERFORM ANALYSIS

(the Loads I'm concerned with are combinations, so the LOAD LIST command is not achieving this)

MISSING MASS CORRECTION IN MOVING LOAD ANALYSIS [TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS]

A composite bridge deck is modelled with beam as a line element and plates as a deck slab. Time history load is applied for class "A" LOAD FOR 75 KM/HR VELOCITY. If missing mass correction is applied then very large forces are observed. LET ME KNOW WHY ? Though the deck slab is getting so much high forces , the beams contribution is not so high. Also the displacements are almost same if missing mass is considered and not consider case which show that resonance is not much attained.

What is the best way to model a steel transition cap?

I am new to STAAD pro connect. I need some help on how to model a steel transition cap shown in the attached photo. The cap consists of two top and bottom plates separated by cylindrical section. There are 24 gussets attached to the outer perimeter of the cylinder. The cylinder is (54.7 x 1.5 x 8 in) OD, Thickness, height. The two plates have 30 in diameter hole. The top plate is 68 x 68 x 3 in and the bottom plate is 74 x 74 x 3 in. The difficult part for me is the mid cylinder with gussets (gussets dimensions: 6.25 x 8 x 1.5 in (width, height, thickness). I want to make sure I will have a proper mesh of the cap at the end, especially at the connections between the vertical cylinder and the top and bottom plates.

1.As per IS 1893 (Indian Code) earlier version, for design of members in open or soft storey, we have to multiply the moments and shears of columns and beams in soft storey by a factor 2.5.

How can I achieve this in Staad.Pro. What commands are required.

2. I used Mmag command to multiply the moment but it is not working. Still shear is not addressed.

3. How to get the storey stiffness print out.

4. How to get the storey shear printed out.

Kindly help me.

STAAD Connect Edition - Physical Modeller Issues

Hello,

My company is starting to make the switch from STAAD.Pro SS6 to the CONNECT edition. I am trying to work my way through understanding the physical modeller and I was having some problems with using this part of STAAD can be resolved:

  1. When defining new UCS's for creating different floor grids, I noticed that in the spreadsheet depending on the direction(s) that the UCS is placed, some coordinate systems that should be 0.000 are coming up as 0.001 (See Pic1, Yellow highlight). If I set ULS2 X-coordinate from 0.001 to 0.000, I begin to get errors saying that it cannot generate the axis coordinate system. Why is this occurring?
  2. Physical Modeller will not let you merge multiple collinear members in the model and need to do it one-by-one (Pic2). For a small model this isn't a big deal, however most projects I (and a lot of users for sure) will have very large models with over 1000 members easily and can see this as a painful process. Can this be updated so that when we select members that can be merged are merged, similar to what was done in SS6 in the past that provided a window on what members could be merged together? This feature will be a big time-saver when creating models and also when revising models.
  3. When selecting the View Tab's "Show Analysis Model" button, end releases that are properly shown in the physical modeller (Pic3a) are missing in this analytical-type view (Pic3b).

STAAD Foundation advanced Error in Importing from a previously exported XML

When analyzing an imported sfa (from XML, which is previously exported from another sfa), the software stops with showing an error as shown in the following snap.

In the XML, even if made any minor changes, like rename the node number or increase or decrease the node spacing, the same error happens.

Software version used is Connect Edition v8.4.0.

Please help in resolving this error.
