It seems that nVariableCombs is not set.

Member truss Element fails in combined check- Select Series 5
Hello,
We are working on a Structural Steel platform project.
We have modeled an Angle Element as a bracing to the column and assigned its specification as "Truss Element" . Meaning it shall only take Tension / Compression.
However after analysis and checking into post process for member fails in unity check, it shows failed for Combined check (combined check for axial compression and Bending). Ideally it should not be taking any bending as it is assigned as member truss.
If we Run this file in Staad Select series 4: It shows design Pass
If we Run this file in Staad Select Series 5: It shown Design Fail.
Can you please help understand why is does not work in Select series 5 and how can we resolve this issue?

In RAM Structural System, the distributed loads applied to the roof deck are not being distributed to one of the beams below. Does anyone have an idea why that might be happening?

Minimize, maximize and close windows icons not adjusted in STAAD pro for Windows 10
I recently upgrade my system to Windows 10, I am facing an issue that not exist when I was using Windows 7. in STAAD pro when I click on minimize it reacts like I clicked on the maximize, if click on maximize react like if it clicked on close, if I click on account picture/icon it reacts like if I clicked on the minimize. But mostly no action done only blink in the icon, so I have to right click and select manually, or click on the upper frame and pull it done to see other open windows in my screen.

Is it possible to perform Dynamic analysis of Elevated Water Tank?
Hey, I am trying to perform dynamic analysis of an Intze type water tank. Things to be considered for dynamic analysis is the sloshing impact and sloshing wave height where a certain portion of mass gets mobilized due to seismic effects.How can I get the weight &height of mass which will be mobilized due to seismic vibrations and perform a dynamic analysis (response spectra & time history). I have attached a model here where the mass of water has been applied in the cylindrical walls as hydro static pressure and the weight of water has been applied as plate loads on the lower dome. How can i get the center of gravity of the structure and insert a node as a master node and apply seismic weight in that node and make other nodes as slave nodes so, that the seismic mass gets distributed proportionally to the slave nodes. In my model I have manually calculated the base shear and applied the forces equally in each node but, this does'nt seem to be an appropriate approach. Can anyone revise my attached model and apply seismic mass in a master node in the C.g of the structure and also perform time history & response spectra analysis?Also how can i perform a P-delta analysis to get the secondary moments on the structural elements?(Please visit the site to view this file)

Spectrum Load Case, Base pressure
Hi,
I modeled a PLATE MAT foundation using plates, Option Y, and the subgrade module.
I am using various load cases including earthquake (Spectrum Load Case).
However I found a contradiction when looking at Base Pressure results, specifically
some nodes show Negative base pressure values, but when I look at the corresponding node displacements (Y) they show negative values,
in the same way the Node Reactions (Y) show negative values, so I do not understand why this is happening.
Notice that I am no using Y COMPRESSION option but just Y for the Mat Plate
I would like to know if there are some restrictions or specific issues when using Spectrum Load case along with
Mat Plate option Y and reaction modulus.
Also, any explantion of the difference between Node Reaction (direction Y) and Base Pressure will be much appreciated.

'Linked' Microstran Model
Hi there,
I am trying to model a steel portal frame. It is 3 bays high and 2 bays wide.
On-site the beams are going to have a moment end plate connection to the columns and the columns will be a continuous member from top to bottom.
When I go to check capacities of members I get very different results depending on if I linked or not linked the entire structure. I believe I should link the columns, but not the beams?
Is someone able to provide an explanation as to what linking does and when to use, or not use it?
I have read that you link members if the member is continuous beyond a node and does not have a twist restraint. But if we go into the element to enter in restraints, we can add lateral restraint, but not a twist restraint. Say we use fly bracing at knees so we can get lateral and twist restraint, we should use a non linked model?
Any guidance or discussion on this, would be hugely appreciated.

Assigning a roller at the intermediate support .
Hi,
I am trying to analyse a structure which has 2 spans(for eg.) of 3m each,
The structure is shown in the attached image. I would like to know how to provide specification to behave the joint of mid column and beam as roller, so that vertical reactions from beam should be transferred to column and no displacement at the top of the center column.
Similar to bearing in bridges!.

Is this Truss structure been analysed correctly, please comment on the member release and support fixity and bracing.
Please find the truss shed file attached for the consideration
as per the requirements and to remove instabilities and excessive deflection I have put redundant bracing and supports made fixed and some members chnaged from truss member to beam.
Please check and comment on the structure.

I have a 3D model of an arch bridge with over 19,400 nodes and over 18,000 plates. I want to run the STAAD.Beava Influence Surface Generator. I created the deck but when I go to run the Influence Surface Generator I get the error message "Influence surface results are missing or invalid". Please analyze the model and let me know if BEAVA will be able to generate influence surfaces. I will send you the file using the secure file upload.

I am getting error below when using optimization option in Ram elements (Ctrl +F9).
My current ram version is 13.5.0.224

Staad Pro: Stop @ form connectivity and ANL is becoming huge ???
All
Staad Pro stopped when forming connectivity. Anyone can help explain what is possible problem? I did check my structure and the structure shall be stable and connected.
