I’ve got a 2 story building with a sloped roof that I’m modeling in RAM. We’re using RAM for both the gravity and lateral. The sloped roof flies by the stair bulkhead which extends above the roof and we’re trying to capture some of the load from the roof diaphragm in a frame that’s within the bulkhead wall.
The funny thing is that when we run RAM Frame after the gravity module has been run, we get roughly double the moment induced into the frame columns from the sloped roof than when we run Frame directly, clearing and skipping the gravity module. Since the roof is sloped, the moment in the column due to the dead load at the roof is the controlling load combination and I'm wondering which analysis is the correct one.
Thanks
