I am new to this community and response spectrum analysis (RSA). I read some discussion on RSA and want to clarify my concept further.
I simplified stadd example to understand base shear concept in RSA and Equivalent lateral Force Method(ELFM). My load case-1 is simple IBCC code seismic load (with R=1) and same code base response spectrum in load case-3.
I got total base shear of 78.73 KN from ELFM. Please see following simple questions to clarify my concept.
Q1- Where is base shear in out put from RSA (please point it on out put) so that I can compare this with 85% requirement of ASCE.
Q2- Lets suppose I got this number, now I have to re-run RSA analysis with that factor in directional tab and get member forces for various load combinations.
Q3- How RSA incorporate that above 90% participation modes will be considered in this analysis, so my member forces will full fill code requirements.
Q4-Since my response spectrum is code base, I do not need to put any scale factor in others tab. Please confirm
