Good Day Fellow Colleagues,
I am currently modelling a structure that includes a bearing/shear wall system along with a moment frame, both supported on a mat foundation. The issue I wish to clarify is concerned with an observation that I made regarding the advanced foundation module. When I was initially modelling in STAAD pro I used a elastic mat as the support/foundation of my building. However, I observed that the wall loads/reactions are treated as column loads at the ends of the wall (similar to an isolated footing at the end nodes of wall), instead of being distributed along the entire base width of the wall (as would be done on a strip footing) when I export the results to staad foundation advanced. This is a large concern for me as the stress concentration in these areas is higher than they are support to be and hence affect the slab thickness and reinforcement needed at these areas. Is there any way I can make staad foundation treat these as wall distributed load/reactions rather than as column reactions.
