I have a shear wall structure with a concrete diaphragm and interior concrete beams but no exterior beams. I'm running a dynamic analysis using the rigid diaphragm feature and would like to use the floor load feature to apply the dynamic mass of the diaphragm to the model however the feature requires beam elements as boundaries. I'm considering running a dummy beam along the perimeter of the structure (directly over the walls). My plan is to connect the beam at each plate element node with pinned ends and using a very low density/modulus of elasticity. Is this a feasible approach? I want to make sure the floor load is transferred evenly to the walls without adding too much mass to the structure.
