I am analyzing a slender structure with non-linear section properties. I have already determined the moment-stiffness relationship. Due to large deflections, the structure has geometric non-linearity also, for which I am using a second-order analysis.
What is the best way to implement this in STAAD? I know that STAAD does not support material non-linearity, but I am manually updating the section properties on an iterative basis until the solution "converges," i.e. the moments of successive iterations do not change substantially.
Does this method seem correct? Does anyone propose any other solutions or have further discussion?
