If the user didn’t assign effective length factor SKY and SKZ parameters in ACI concrete column design, which value does STAAD consider in the column design:
1-The length of the modelled member from node to node or
2-the clear height of the column (that is the length of the column member from node to node minus the depth of the connecting beams at the top and bottom if no beam vertical offset is assigned)?
3-the clear height of the column (that is the length of the column member from node to node minus the depth of the connecting beams at the top only if beam vertical offset is assigned)?
4- k>1 (STAAD is assuming the structure is sway by default)
5- k is calculated internally
Our office has been relying on STAAD only for analysis relying on other software for design by taking analysis results manually. I'm trying to save time by adopting the design results from STAAD, can you please review the model attached and advise if the design results are ready for drafting? The columns are not braced so it's a non-sway frame.
