Hi, Dear Friends:
We are using STAAD PRO for structural strength analysis with ASIC ASD code check. We used the user-defined material GUI to define different YIELD stress (170MPa) and Tensile Strength(485MPa) from common carbon Steel. But, the program always use the default STEEL yield stress (253MPa) and Tensile Strength to do code check. We are bamboozled and wrongly considered that STAAD Pro acknowledged our input effectively. Since from Editor we found that Yield stress and Tensile strength appeared as expected. For Code check, the above-mentioned input methods for YIELD and TENSILE strengths may not be acknowledged by STAAD PRO. Strange enough logically.
From this feature, may I suggest that “Type of Materials” commands in the user-defined mode should be inactivated?
We are now aware that Steel Design Commands are required for code check in case of different YIELD stress from the DEFAULT STEEL YIELD Stress embedded in STAAD PRO program:
