Hi,
I am designing a mat foundation consisting of a 400m thick slab 20m x 10m (approx.) and 15No. columns 1.7m in height. I have modeled a steel grillage in STAAD pro, designed and analyised it accordingly to get support reactions. I then run STAAD Pro Foundation Advanced through STAAD pro and export the column reactions. I set all the loads to the correct type i.e. live, dead wind etc. and use the generate load combination to British. I also in the job set up I use British codes. All this is fine.
Problem 1.
If I ignore the self weight of the mat foundation, the model will run accordingly, but if I include the self weight it will fail to produce results.
Problem 2.
If I include a pedestal in my design in the calculation sheet the report heading states BS8110 (as I set it to this) but then for the pedestal design it has references to ACI318.
Problem 3.
Having set me reinforcement region etc. on the calculation sheet it does not show any calculations for the mat i.e. Top of Mat Longitudinal Direction. have I done something wrong or should there be calculations under the four tabs?
Problem 4.
in the Output Pane - Design Progress Report tab I noticed it says
checking loads...
no column reaction load found....
is this a problem as it continues to run and process all load combinations?
any solutions or explanations would be great
