WHEN WE APPLY CRANE LOAD IN MY OPINION THERE SHOULD BE FIVE SITUATION CONSIDERED FOR EACH POSITION OF CRANE WITH LIFTED LOAD
1. VERTICAL WITH IMPACT @ 25% OF LIFTED LOAD ( SIMULATING THE SITUATION WHILE CRANE IS LIFTING LOAD) - NO OTHER LATERAL OR LONGITUDINAL TO BE CONSIDERED
2. VERTICAL LOAD WITHOUT IMPACT + TRANSVERSE THRUST LOAD( + DIRECTION) WITH 20 % OF (TROLLEY WEIGHT + LIFTED LOAD)
3. VERTICAL LOAD WITHOUT IMPACT + TRANSVERSE THRUST LOAD ( - DIRECTION) WITH 20 % OF (TROLLEY WEIGHT + LIFTED LOAD)
4. VERTICAL LOAD WITHOUT IMPACT + LONGITUDINAL THRUST (+DIRECTION)10 % OF WHEEL LOAD WITHOUT IMPACT
5. VERTICAL LOAD WITHOUT IMPACT + LONGITUDINAL THRUST (-DIRECTION)10 % OF WHEEL LOAD WITHOUT IMPACT
BUT SURPRISINGLY MOST OF US USE FOLLOWING FOUR CONDITIONS:
A) VERTICAL LOAD WITH IMPACT + TRANSVERSE THRUST LOAD( + DIRECTION) WITH 20 % OF (TROLLEY WEIGHT + LIFTED LOAD)
B) VERTICAL LOAD WITH IMPACT + TRANSVERSE THRUST LOAD ( - DIRECTION) WITH 20 % OF (TROLLEY WEIGHT + LIFTED LOAD)
C) VERTICAL LOAD WITH IMPACT + LONGITUDINAL THRUST (+DIRECTION)10 % OF WHEEL LOAD WITHOUT IMPACT
D) VERTICAL LOAD WITH IMPACT + LONGITUDINAL THRUST (-DIRECTION)10 % OF WHEEL LOAD WITHOUT IMPACT
MY POINT OF ARGUMENT IS THAT NO TWO ACTIONS CAN OCCUR SIMULTANEOUSLY VERTICAL IMPACT AND TRANSVERSE IMPACT SIMULTANEOUSLY IS A SUCH CONDITION
ANY CAN CLARIFY WHAT SHOULD THE ENGINEERING JUDGEMENT? IS THE CODE SILENT ABOUT THIS?
