Issues with RAM connection

Hello forum once again,

For design of fully welded BCF as per Eurocode-3, the effective width calculated on the basis of EN1993-1-8, eq 4.6a.

One of the input required in this formula is root rad, now tell me from where this root radius is extracted for rolled I or H section, I dont find the root rad in STAAD section database (RAM dont have its own section database, i think).

What i noticed that RAM uses wrong value (less compare to actual) of root radius for HE120AA resulting in less effective width.

I thought this may be problem with one section, so i changed the size, also changed the section to UC but the result were wrong again.

Please confirm...

In the results of RAM, for fillet welds min throat thickness required are mentioned, I find very often it is less than 3 mm eg., 2.45mm, 2.6mm etc.

Sorry I dont have the evidence currently, will post a screenshot when i will find it again.

Whereas Eurocode 4.5.2.(2) states that "The effective throat thickness of a fillet weld should not be less than 3 mm."

Also in case of Fixed bi axial BP EN (I havent check other types) base plate design, in results min edge distance was given as 6.35mm for anchor size of 20mm.

But i think the edge distance shall not be less than 1.2do, where do bolt dia.

See attached screenshot.

To be honest this is taking too much time to check whether all calculations are right, almost equal to manual caln.

I am using RAM connection integrated with STAAD 20.07.11.90.

Regards,

Vishal
