We are designing a long span, post tensioned structure supported by four columns only. We have evaluated stiffness of the columns and modeled the supports as springs with appropriate stiffness. We require to determine horizontal reactions on the supports due to load term effects (creep & shrinkage).
What are the horizontal reactions when load history calculation is carried out?
We determined that horizontal shrinkage can not be determined.
We thought that the reactions are due to creep effects, however the reactions do not make any sense. Reactions for same load combination at 28 days and 30 years vary in direction, reaction on one support increases several times whilst at other column remains very similar. We have also run the same model without PT and the resulting reactions are much more consistent.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
