I'm now designing the package foundation with staad pro. and small mesh(node spacing :0.3m).
When the mesh is small the peak value (moment and shear) is higher than large spacing. (0.6m or 1.0m)
In my experience, we can use the average value surround plate as belows,

Because wide areas of concrete, not a single plate, resist the moment or shear.
In this project, I get an average value from 6 or 9 plate surrounding the peak value plate as below.
- Moment : 6~9 surrounding plates. for average.
- Shear : 3 plates with same direction.
Please advise me whether this method is applicable or not.
And please advise me for mesh size to get reasonable values.
