Greetings All,
I have designed many suspended slabs using RAM Concept and this is my first go at post tensioned raft.
This is what I would call a flexible raft slab without piles. I have 800mm thick bands under columns and 350mm thick slab between these bands. The modulus of subgrade reaction is 25kPa/mm and allowable bearing pressure is 150kPa. When I build and run the model the resulting bearing pressure is higher under some columns than max allowable. Deflection (or settlement) is in the order of 15mm.
My question is: Providing deflections are acceptable and strength requirements (reo) are within acceptable levels, is the excessive bearing pressure a problem?
Thanks in advance for your insight.
George
