Is there a method to incorporate or model a concrete pier on a spread footing? More specifically, the typical condition where a steel column lands on a pier at a perimeter foundation, which, in turn, is supported by a spread or strip footing? My concern is not so much with design of the pier itself, but rather that the overturning due to shear at the base of the steel column (and top of pier) is accounted for in the footing design.
