Is there any difference in the way that Concept treats column strips and middle strips for analysis and design of two way slabs? As I understand it, the addition of middle strips essentially acts as a tool to reduce the strip widths and provide finer accuracy for the force resultants in the strip compared to using just one wide column strip. But does Concept see the designation of a middle strip and assign it any different properties per the selected code (span detailing, reinforcement ratios, moment distribution, etc.) or treat it differently in any other way other than the properties we assign in column strip and middle strip tabs of the design strip properties? Hypothetically, would using full width column strips in the same widths and layout as traditional column/middle strip layout result in the same program reinforcement as using the traditional column/middle strip layout?
Thanks,
Rich
