Hello All,
I have a one-way PT slab with bays every 20' perpendicular to the distributed PT and every 60' parallel to the distributed PT. Every 20' perpendicular I have PT beams spanning the 60' bays and landing on columns or shear walls. At the perimeter I have been checking the moments within the column in order to check the column design however I am finding significantly different moments within the column below and above the slab. The column below moments are a around +30 kip-ft while the moment of the column above are around -210 kip-ft. The columns have the same height, width, depth, fixity, stiffness, and concrete mix. Has anyone else encountered this problem before or have any thoughts about what could be causing this?
Below should be a few screen shots of a few of the reactions for the Dead+Balance load combination and one of the mesh of the columns.
