Section 3.3.3 of RAM Frame's Steel Standard Provision Technical Notes states the following regarding Local Web Yielding and Web Crippling: "To calculate the column capacity at these locations RAM Frame uses the maximum of the framing beams flange thickness or the columns k dimension (distance from outside face of column flange to the web toe of the web-to-flange fillet) in equations LRFD 3rd: K1-2, K1-3 and AISC 360: J10-2, J10-3." What is the AISC 360 Specification basis for RAM SS use of the MAXIMUM of the beam's flange or the column's K dimension?
