I have just begun using STAAD Pro and I am practicing on a few common tasks that I will perform in the future. I want to model a 3/16 deck plate covering an opening. The deck plate is stiffened by WT4x10 which are stitch welded to the underside of the plate and actually support the cover on embedded angles. The modeling of the WTs is easy as well as the plate, but I would like to model the stiffness produced by the multiple beams along with the plate. I have performed the hand calculations so I have a conservative answer I would just like to get a better measure of the actual conservatism of the result.
The details are:
Span: 16'
Width: 20'
Spaces: 10
All materials are modeled as ASTM A-36 at this time.
The plate is considered to be a continuous plate without any seams
WT 4x10
A = 2.95, Ixx=3.67 in^4, Sxx = 1.13 in^3, r = 1.12 in, y =0.825 in,
