STAAD Pro. v8i Select Series 6 v20.07.11.82 currently performs a code check per API 21st Edition ( PROGRAM CODE REVISION V21_API_2000/1). Could anyone please share how does the program computes Allowable Bending stress in Compression, FCZ.
I've computed the same manually per API Equations listed in the help files, however the STAAD results don't match manual compuations. For my application following equation governs;
Fcz = (0.84-1.74* Fy*D) *Fy.

I get Fcz = 0.72Fy with all the relevant parameters, but STAAD reports and uses about 0.6*Fy for combined bending and axial compression utilization ratios. I could not figure out the reason for this. Is there a max FCZ limit provided in the program. Any guidance or discussion on this would be of great help.
