First time on this forum & also first time using this software so hope my questions don't sound silly!
I am designing a range of arch structures supported by cantilever pile foundations, the solution results in a short pile with a high moment. Until now I have utilised BROMS but feel this is conservative giving a large moment in the pile. For this reason I want to compare the results in STAAD.
I am in Australia so a little disappointing this software will not design to our standards. Is there any intention to change this in the future, would I be better to use RAM Foundation?
I appreciate the software is designing to the US standard but is there any way of imputing a user defined Bar Size in the pier sectiontab? The available bar sizes in US are slightly different to those in Australia.
In the Loadstab there is a note down the bottom "For Free Head condition choose moment option". This is the condition I have so I selected the moment option. When I finish the design the Calculation Sheet states Head Condition: Fixed Head but I expect it to say Free Head. I just want some confidence I have entered the details correctly as this seems strange.
Finally in the Design Parameters tab I have entered 500 MPa for the reinforcement strength, this is the yield strength of our reinforcing. In the Calculation Sheet it gives a Rebar Strength of 500 MPa and a Steel Strength of 500 MPa. What is the Steel Strength referring to and I assume I am correct entering yield values and not ultimate strength values?
