I have a monumental stair design I am doing in RAM Elements. The model is two stringers connected at the nodes with stair stringers (pinned both ends). I am trying to determine the natural frequency and want to make sure I am entering the mass correctly. I am placing mass at each node based on effective area. Do I apply the mass in each direction (Tx, Ty, and Tz) or just in the vertical Tz direction? I have tried both ways and obviously the natural frequency changes for each method. Thanks.
