Hi There,
I am dealing with a structure in Turkey which is a high seismic risk zone. So, using my lovely STAAD, I am applying the seismic forces using STAAD Turkish Load Generator. I got 2 concerns:
1- The structure natural frequency calculation: The Turkish seismic code equation 2.11 (Rayleigh equation) shall be used in determining the structure natural vibration period. However, the STAAD is using a is using T1 = CT [hn] ¾. This gives different values and the resulting seismic base shear will be totally different.
2- If you entered a user input value to CT, the STAAD doesn't recognize it. Instead, STAAD uses the entered value as the Px (the parameter just after the CT in the GUI). You have to manually edit the input file and type the user input parameters correctly.
3- for the calculated periods: if you added an structure period to override the STAAD calculated period, program just neglects the entered periods and proceed with calculated values.
