I am designing a mat foundation for a current project of mine. I am in the process of sizing my reinforcing based on the maximum moment calculated in the mat based on my loading. I have a question about these calculated moments. When I go to the calculation sheet and look at the reaction summary I get a maximum moment of 56k-ft/ft . Then when I use the slab designer to calculate my rebar at each face I come up with a maximum moment of 29k-ft/ft. Why are these two values different? Are they calculating different things? Which should I use to size my reinforcing?
