create user table in staad

I'm using the "create user table" in Staad Pro V8i to make general sections and specifically the "create profile polygon option". I'd like to be able to save these sections for use on other Staad projects. Is there  a way to do this? Is the user table saved as a seperate file with it's own extension in a project folder? I tried creating a new table and checking the option for "external table" but always received an error when either trying to create a new file name or choosing a text file I'd created earlier.
